prepared for war & the ghosts to follow

i'm armed & ready for the army to come
motherfucker my guns are loaded &
all i can dream of
all i believe in now
are bullets piercing skulls invading
brains scrambling senses

this man's wife & kids crying over
his closed casket while a young poet
gripping black pen & notebook
smokes writes chuckles watching from
the back of the parlor, never taking
a crazed dry eye away from them.
