I've never been one to rail against fate
but rather rest my head on it like an airbag
deployed in the car crash we are,
knowing full well you've taken off your seatbelt
long ago and have flown through the windshield
leaving only a self-portrait of blood
on the headrest and dashboard.

I cannot help but feel that serratedsoul has missed the point, as far as my tired mind can tell, this is about being the airbag, attempting to save people who are inevitably going to wind up a self-portrait...

i have to disagree with your submission to fate. you sound like you've surrendered and are ready to let this 'fate' lead you where it may. your life is your own.
