when the sun is covered by the clouds
the world freezes and holds its breath
a blue tint washes over everything
the smoke from a cigarette
lingers uncertainly
before vanishing into the calm unknown
eyes drift upwards and scan the sky
with silent/unrealistic hopes
the world can stay like this forever;
but the sun cannot be contained
the blue is gone
as is the calm
replaced by an infinite number
of kamikaze photons
intent on halting complacence/
on showing the world
what it's really like
