where is the father
he's out in the bar
took off without the family
and didn't leave the car

he's drunk again
what did she do
she was home all day
she hasn't got a clue

and now the mournful cry
of a well beated wife
the drunkin husband
within his hand is a knife

they tried to stop him
but they didn't succeed
and started to cry
when they saw their mother bleed

they took her to the hospital
they tried to fix her up
a couple of scrapes and cuts
and a big fat lump

and now a lonely mother
a dead beat dad
crying tired children
who are up out of bed

listening to their mother
crying all night
all about her problems
that she can no longer fight

this hopeless mother
is crying out her tears
her starving children
is the only thing she fears

now the childrens playtime
is now out the door
they have to help out
so their childhood is no more

it got so bad
that she couldn't take no more
so she decided to take her life
and fell to the floor

this is a story
a sad little tale
of children with futures
that will never prevail
