I Stand here in a field of loneliness,
Despair grows into full bloom at my feet.
It spreads with every step I take,
Keeping those at bay that I may meet.
I stay in my Shadow of a world,
Always looking for the light.
Wanting the warm embrace of day,
Instead of the endless, cold, dark night.
The Blooms of Despair tangle themselves around me,
Holding me firmly in my place.
Taunting me with the closeness of the light,
I struggle when I feel warmth upon my face.
But I cannot break myself free,
Their hold on me is too strong.
The whisper that they'll never let me go,
That this is where I belong.
Soon I'll stop struggling,
For the warm embrace of the light.
I will lay down in my field of loneliness,
And embrace the cold, dark, lonely night.
