i’m the “v”
not the virgin
or vigilante
just the “v”
not the violinist
or ventriliquist
i am merely the “v”
in that poem by silverstein
the “v” in “love”
& the only one to show
that is how i see some friendships
i’m there, ready
to battle, brawl, or bawl
all in the name of love
but “l”, “o”, & “e”
called in sick
i’m the most giving of givers
& friendliest of friends
the most loyal of the loyalists
& i shall be ‘til the end
i am just the “v”
who puts more out
& gets less back
i’m just the “v”
smiling
but wanting more friends
