who’ll never know me

who will never hear my voice
this is for the boy
sitting on his porch
or in a dark room
under a lonely light
this is for the boy
reading the words
in this book
long after i am dead
this is for the boy
who understands all of this
this is for the boy
i’ll never see
this is for the boy
i’m writing for
i hope you’re proud of me
