If I could have just one wish
It’d be that you smile always
That your heart be filled with joyful things
That nothing wrong comes near you

If I could have just one prayer
It’d be that God may bless you
That he protect every tiny eyelash
And that he watch over every footstep

If I could have just one dream
It’d be that you get all you’ve dreamed of
That a light shines over all your pathways
And that what you want becomes real.

Nothing else, my love, is needed
Nothing else, but that you smile

(But if, by grace, I get a second wish
This is what I’d pray:
That as you walk through a life of happiness
I’d be allowed to hold your hand).
