She smiles...
As if everything will once again
Somehow be right once more
Nothing fades that bright smile...
The warm embrace
Sister 1... just 20 months old
Too young to understand
The hell... the pain
Holds a small teddy bear
Watches the bonfire
Consuming the flicker of heat
Sister 2... 12 years old
Just wants to go home
It's cold... so very cold
She whines
Although older, she too
Is beyond understanding
The meaning of hate..
Homeless... Poor

"Stay strong" she whispers...
To herself
"you're the only one who can"
She holds sister 1 tight
"I'm sorry"

Apologies, so useless but...
So sincere
Tears of sadness
How the hell is this to be explained..
The police show up...
Can't do anything...
Hammer involved... stay safe
Friends not really friends
"Can't stay here"
All 3 sisters walk down the road
Barefoot, afraid and cold
The blood rushes, anger flows
"What kind of man..."
Life unglued...
Torn in two... destroyed
No place to stay...
Stubborn...
Baby sick... feet cold... mosquitoes
Daddy warm... soft bed... eyes closed
