as the Cold Sun sets
shadows merge
across fossilized leaves
limiting space
to conjure up regrets
that constantly surge
through thoughts that bereave
unseen grace
as the dusty smiles fill cracks
stepped on and broken
paralyzing happiness that spent
years to obtain
knives buried in backs
while lungs were chokin'
on words that were freshly bent
evaporating in the rain
as burnt compassion withers
under wounded wings
souls spiral up to the ground
like a dustdevil
lurking in the wind that slithers
down voices that sing
when tears fall but make no sound
once choirs revel
there's just
something about
silence
