Long avenues into bloodshot sunsets
shifting the soundtrack of extended fugues
of fossilised wind across desert canyons,
these are the scenes the eyes sedate
drifting thru the smoke of lone highways
juxtaposed over lizards & tumbleweeds,
how the soul echoes the western roads
just trying not to surrender
such as the bones of ensnarled exile,
but as gravity in the end the moon’s tide
transcends the weight of human breath
and into shadow the evening pales...
