A cold winter's night
Only our final breaths can be seen
The hallucinations becoming stronger
As death looms overhead
Trapped in disaster's wake
For what sins are we being punished?

The fire died hours ago
Final embers covered by ice and snow
As daylight breaks; startling realizations
All hope lost with south bound fowl
The now dimly lit cabin holds no pity
Windows providing no light

Gray becomes all envisionment
A day's struggle results in fatigue
The grandeur that was once our life
Forever entombed, waiting for rediscovery
Maybe those who finally see will mourn,
Two frozen, hand-in-hand, for all eternity
