A torrent in the night
Long and wet in the dark
And dripping on the branches

There is a toad chirping
And the moths
Bathed in electric light against the window
Have lost their dust

The bright power of god rolls
Loud and long through the sky
And buries itself in thunder
As it moves into the bricks and wood
Sounding its voice even in the window glass.

The cat who never comes inside, comes inside.

I can hear it as I read it. Powerful enough to shake the earth.

Always a fan of capturing the atmosphere (I must have 46 poems written about a weather incident), I love this. "The bright power of god rolls" stanza is really knockout, and the ending about the cat really striked home because i have a cat like that lol... only wants to see me if its pouring or snowing. Nice write!

there is a great foreboding sense to this; you capture the scene perfectly and you score it well with menacing word choices to great ample imagery of the dark kind....and the final moment, when the all-too independent cat 'comes inside' suggests that the end is only the beginning, leaving an enticing, lingering feel. Especially loved the moths bathed in 'electric light' gives the sensation of tone to the short poem's presence. Just one word really: Brilliant.
