blackened marble eyes; rolling
mad horse; foaming teeth-bared
quantum stare
pass beyond the edge of everything
reach the barren plains
empty and desolate
no water, no map, no sanity
dirt encrusted
blood matted
time worn
soul heavy-downtrodden
shaky muscles; distended
beat down
run beyond
run behind
never catching up
lost inside this mind
crouch down
pay homage to the land
be thankful you're a man
safe from this
strange animal savagery
that time has sold me
don't invest foolishly
read between the lines
squint to see the fine print
count every penny as they sell your soul
listen to the whispers and tales told at the tavern
much can be gleaned
from bumbling baffoons
setting their traps
picking your pockets
sharing their stale wine
from a bloodied cup
keep your veins bandaged
or they will bleed you dry
hide your gold
if you've managed to hold onto it thus far
hide your smile;
they smell your weakness and tear you to shreds
run beyond
run behind
always running away from time
play the tune that drives her mad
pluck the hair out of her eyes
pluck the stars out of the sky
soothe the beast the runs the storm
thunder--hooves beating
running endlessly
running
chasing
madness, like the moon in her rolling eyes
