If I were the ocean
not another wave would crash
or if I were a star
my light would no more flash
If I were the wind
the air would be deadly still
or if I were the rain
the lakes would no more fill
If I were the sun
the day would grow cold and grey
or if I were the moon
the dark of night would never fade
If I were a tree
my branches would hang so low
or if I were a seed
the plant would cease to grow
If I were an island
I would sink into the waters deep
and if I were a person
I would fold into eternal sleep
If I were anything
I would slowly cease to be
I would slip into forever
if I were anything but me
