Sun shines brightly
Beauty on the green leaves
But it's beauty that I can't see
Your the only one I've ever known
A part of me from long ago
A thousand miles apart
And still I feel your pain
I may not be there for you in the flesh
But I am always with you in the heart
I'm sorry I couldn't know you better
That I couldn't be there more
I miss you when your far away
I'll miss you forever when you are gone
I've never had to deal with this
With losing the ones I love
But what your going through is so much worse
Compared to my love and pain and hurt
I can't believe you'll soon be gone
Though I knew it was coming all along
I wish I could be there to say good bye
To tell you that I love you just one last time
I'm just happy to know you had a good long life
And I hope you slip peacefully into eternal night

My grandpa died on September 28 of this year. I worte this 2 days before he died.

I can't really say I have lost anybody close to me but like most people I dread the thought of it happening. This was a very well written and heartfelt piece for sure.

This brought tears to my eyes. My Grandpa was one of my biggest heroes, and I can't focus long enough to write coherently about him yet.

I went through this in summer, it's still too fresh for me to write something about. Thanks for sharing this.

Deepest condolences. I actually wrote something when my own grandfather passed, though it was 2 days after. Beautifully versed emotions. ~b
