Standing tall and proud
against the days sun
full belly at your base
tapering off to beautiful point
majestic
I wonder…
Do you ever get lonely
there amongst the waves
of the eons?
A job no one else
cares to hold
And so you stand
strong
all the while battered
by wind and sea
A tired sentinel in the night
Beaming your light
For all to witness
As water gushes against rocks
And the traffic of the expanse
Stays clear and free
The day breaks
Your light no longer needed
Until once again she
Goes to sleep
And you are asked upon
To guide us safely home.
