Hear this I say!
The earth is flat
and the lines are always
black and white
never see the grays
walk the straight and narrow
never color outside the lines
never waver
don't take your time
to smell the roses.
Walk on the high beam but
don't look down
and don't look back
you will never get anywhere
like that.
The sky is your limit
don't look to the stars
daydreamers
never get far.
They see the beauty
which we look past
it blinds their sight
and clouds their steps
they constantly look
beyond the blue
and paint in colors
we see through
constantly faltering
and looking back
gaging the actions
of their past
learning from mistakes
they have yet to make
purely for the sake
of stepping away
from the path
that we have made.
Sure they smell the roses
sweetest scent
and gaze upon the most
memorable of sunsets
They touch the stars
and sleep in clouds
hear the music of the breeze
and laugh out loud,
but they also take the
winding road, always at their pace
because the twists and turns
they embrace
and in turn hold them back
and that is their place
they will never reach
the social heights we can claim
while they continue to daydream.
So this to you I say:
Better to travel on the straight road
the brambles will only get in your way.
