Explain to me
How “I’m sorry” makes it better
Does it really only take
For those two words to be together?
Clarify to me
That you didn’t mean for this
That the heartache that I feel
Was just a “hit and miss”
Please illuminate to me
The story, oh so clear
Because the way that I’m hearing it
Is as if you didn’t care
And my heart can not take much more
From this prodding that you do
And it isn’t revenge you seek
For I’ve been nothing but perfect to you.
So, when you tell me that you’re sorry
And that you love me with all your might
Is it your word of truth you stand by?
Or is it said in fright?
Because you know the woman I am
And might it be that you’re ashamed
Of what I’ve given to be with you
Yet…you’ve never done the same.
