It’s always the good things
That seem to break your heart
Shatter it in pieces
And rip your world apart
It’s always what you want the most
That you can never have
It’s always what made you happiest
That one day makes you sad
It’s always the best
That turns to the fake
When your dreams are so much better
Than ever being awake
It’s always the warmest
That suddenly makes you freeze
And it’s what made you healthy
That later infects you with disease
And why is it that what makes you calm
One day drives you mad
And it seems it’s the ripest
That always first goes bad
And I notice it’s the prettiest
That first turns to gray
And that which gives the most
Will surely make you pay
It’s always what feels right
That is really completely wrong
And what fits perfectly
Is what just can’t belong
So if everything I’ve said
Is just what has to be
Then tell me why it is
You’re still in love with me
