a robin red breast in a cage
puts all heaven in a rage
a ro bin red breast fluttering in a rage
trying to escape her rusted cage
heaven ablaze, golden pillars
collapse in inflamed heaps
the smoldering wreckage reeks
of burnt flesh- god's forgotten to save his pet.
god laughs and plucks a feather
from the redbreast's back
and like yankee doodle,
sticks it in his cap.
he whistles happily as he pours
gasoline to appease the appetite of the flames.
he is tired of his little game,
and the gaudy gates of heaven are
not so pretty to him
as to the eyes of spiritless saints
