The distant light fades into shadows
Casting one last flicker of hope
Before darkness bleeds within the room
Amass a blackened world I sit
It wasn’t always this way
I cared once
Long ago
Now a new drug fills my veins
Not one of powder or of pill
Not one you can purchase
Not one you can steal
Days hemorrhage into months
The essence flows deep now
Within the confines of my heart
Addiction has come to me
On fiery wings
It absorbs
My soul
A drug you may not know
A drug filled with hate
A simple wonder it seems
A feeling I need not relate
The end accession draws close to hand
Still possessed of my enslavement
I find peace with the fact
That life’s endless battles
Will destroy my soul
Long before
…my withered body falls.
This drug I have isn’t right
This drug I need feeds my blaze
This drug is simple to see
This drug I burden is Apathy
