Fishing. Calm becomes a storm. Struggle to maintain boat. Boat capsizes. Left sitting on a plank. Not too far from the shore, but without a compass. I could go one way, and be headed home, or unknowingly travel deeper and deeper into the ocean's dark abyss. Judging by the stars. Using animal instincts and time tested strategies. No water. Sea water will dehydrate me. Make sure not to open any wounds, fear of sharks and other sea creatures. Food is fish, but the fishing rod went down with the ship. Exhaustion and hot sun blaring down on me. No sign of land. No sign of land. No sign....
Delirious. Sea weed floats by. Was that a seagull? Follows stars, swimming at dawn-hopes that night creatures will swim down deeper for the day. One night-a light. A hope twinkling in the distance. A lighthouse. Risk swimming at night. Risking life to touch the soft earth again. Though cold and drenched and nearly drowning. -I could just let go. Give up. Sink, and be serene-. The light guides me on in the night. Swimming and swimming, the light gives me hope. Fearing death. Fearing being lost. Being forgotten. Keep swimming, don't mind the cold. Memories flood my mind like the ocean permeates my clothes. Regret. Regret. Regret intends to drown me. But it keeps me going. I must wish to change or die. If whatever I've done wrong were ever to be righted, I must follow the light. Land is so far...far...away.
