Chaos is raining down
in drops of violent blue
It hits unsettled dust
 darkening the hue
People scream obscenities
one second then the next
Shout that we are mighty
and that our country’s blessed
The terror in our faces
replaced by dark serene
They ask peace to urinate on violence
and turn the blue to green
But nothing quite makes sense
 when swallowed as a whole
And people beg to kill
 those that took our soul
Others might ask why
 or how to best defend
But no one quite sits back
 to watch our country mend
“If we cannot have violence
 if we cannot defend
If we cannot retaliate
 then however will we mend”
“We’ll show them they can’t do this
and teach them they are wrong”
And one more time the world records
 the saddest ever song
But by the time it’s played for all to hear
the musicians can’t be found
And the band will have a trendy
 “last year” sort of sound
No one will ever notice
that the books were never read
And when the world falls down again
we’ll all be safe in bed

Still as poignant today as it was then. however "They ask peace to urinate on violence" made me laugh for some reason, but still a vivid imagery. I wouldn't change it.

I didn't intend to bring back the pain, but I though it was important when I found it again. It was like we were just forgetting and feeling normal again when the war came... I thought that this was almost a premonition in that sence. We may never come to

this is so true. i do believe, for the most part, the U.S. has stopped learning(probably on purpose) from their acual mistakes. good poetry.
