I know the sun is shining
somewhere through the rain
Because I can see the colored arches
form across the lane
The trees that break my vision
stretch on either side
And shelter unseen miracles
that sought them out to hide
The earth is newly bathed
and left a freshened sheen
As scents rise from the ground
of dust and warmth and green
And in this moment I can see
a softness in the air
Which makes me stop and realize
that I'm already there
