I smoke and drink in sorrow
And wish my heart was black
Then neither grief nor bitter shame
Could censure my attack

These mindless chains and fetters
Undone by my swift rage
These lines in desperation writ
Could free me from this page

But, dazed by fear and boredom
Bound by apathetic whim
I sleep through dreams of nightmares
And watch my story dim
