A child kicks and fights in the womb
Never having asked to be created
The mother never having asked for the drunken assault
From the husband she can't escape
Guilt stricken for bringing a child into this hell

A child screams as he enters the world
Still innocent not knowing what he will endure
Mother holds him as she cries for his safety
Father looks on him with hate in his eyes
As he feigns love while the doctor is around

Days pass it's time to take baby home
Everything is fine until baby cries
Father yells with a drink in his hand
Mother runts to calm the child down
Fearful of her husband and his alcaholic fury

Night falls, it's time for bed
Baby sleeps half way throught the night
Then hunger strikes and baby cries
Mother wakes to father yelling
Baby is too young an innocent to understand

Years go by and innocence is stolen
Old enough to comprehend fury
Too young to understand why
Is there a reason
Or does father no nothing of love?

Baby, now a child, doesn't see behind closed doors
Only hears mother sobbing every night
Doesn't see fathers fist clench
As he swings and mother cowers
Trying to hide from the inevitable pain

A child grows older and now he understands
Father is a monster
Mother is a victim
Protecting her child
From senseless abuse

Hiding the truth
Beneath a cosmetic veil
No one sees the bruises, swelling, and scars
No one hears silent screams of fear
Or the sound of her falling tears

A child swears that this will stop
Mother won't cry another tear
Father will be the one in fear
This drunken fiend will meet his match
Never again will he raise his fist

Father thinks the child is asleep
He finishes his drink and balls up his fist
Mother sees another beating on its way
She starts to cry and begs him to stop
Before she can finish he knocks her to the wall

A child hears the noise
Decides that it is time
Tonight is the night
He's made his choice
The monster will die

The child opens the bedroom door
Heads down the hall
With a knife in hand
Father is yelling and swinging
Doesn't notice as the child enters

He comes up behind father
Puts the knife to his neck
He whispers in his fathers ear
"You will cause no more fear"
Blood starts to trickle as more pressure is put on the blade

Father begins to beg and plead
"Stop, don't do this... I Love You!"
Tears stream down his face
"I'm sorry, it's won't happen again"
To save his life he'll say anything

The child stays stone cold
As he sees his mothers tears
Her split open lip
Her eye black and blue
Quickly swelling

A child whispers to his father
"You're a monster you know nothing of love"
Tightens his grip on the handle
Pulls the knife as hard as he can
Looks to mother and says "He won't hurt you again"

A child is arrested and taken away
With no remorse for what he has done
Mother always protected him, now he has done the same
She cries as her son is taken away
A child says with teary eyes "He won't hurt you again"
