We are what the world wills us to be
Or the world is what we will it to be
Either way, just don’t forget me
Please don’t forget

Change has gazed upon our dawn
And though I know
It cannot be fought
Still, I gather stones
To throw into its eye
Foretelling me, a future
A future I curse as a lie.

Dropping seeds, and nurturing weeds
Dividing our paths, leaving no tracks
We’ll find no way back, no going back.
But perhaps a memory by scent or song

Change leaves behind
Small deaths of every kind
And the grief…the grief reveals
Our hearts true tone,
Reflecting on a time
Closer to a place called home

I think this is the best worded out ending I have seen ... hmm .. justme justme justme justme judgeme judge me .. I once told you how much I liked your name JustMe. How inviting! Simple and inviting. A fictional name, just that maybe. A scent? Words and feelings, we keep a scent of them. Do not worry. It is there.

Beautiful piece - I especially like the third stanza, "Dropping seeds, and nurturing weeds" is a great line!

I've been thinking thoughts similar to these recently, with New Year, looking back on the last year and the one before, and this articulated what has been running through my mind.

I'm not a big fan of change, I grow comfortable with familiar. But I always try to take mental pictures for when that's all I have left. Much enjoyed.

I think of others I have known, and wonder if they reminisce. Fate?...determination, battle of wills, circumstance...surrender/apathy?...what a swirling mess of a world..and is forever changed. Sweet sentiment. Tones down the loss.

sobering thoughts, mature reflections... I love the tone, the tempo, solemn and foreboding, yet the melancholy is somehow warming and comforting... a feeling of abandonment without the solitude... very well crafted... as we are forced to leave time itself becomes unheimlich (if I spelled that right:)
