A cold breeze is coming into the window tonight
And the air tastes like sickness.
I feel fucked up tonight,
I feel fucking sick tonight.
I feel violated by lies so twisted.
But hey,
I'm ok
Because I'm alive.

The injustices of this society,
Are settling heavily in my stomach.

And it makes me want to scream
When I think of how ignorant people can be

And it makes me want to scream
When intelligent priorities are just an illusion.

And it makes me want to scream
Every time I see something as unnecessary as an SUV

It makes me want to scream
That for some of us, starvation is an ever-present threat

And it makes me want to scream
When I realize how many people are just struggling to stay alive.

While so many politicians
Have lied
And cheated
All of us
Just to live it fat at the top.

At the top where they live
With their greed
And their guilt
And their corruption
And their heartlessness.

And they ignore you at the bottom
Where the people haven't been blessed enough
To live a life worth living.

The breeze of poison gas I inhale tonight
Tells of people working dead-end jobs.
They're raising families on insufficient salaries.
They're single working mothers.
And father who live here to work their lives away
So their family can scrabble for food down in Mexico.

And we,
We sit in our cars
We sit on our thrones of guilt.

And we,
We close our eyes and ignore
We play dumb.

And we
We turn off our hearts
And we set our minds to "More Power, More Stuff."

And it makes me want to scream.
It hurts so bad,
It makes me want to cry.
The cost of living
Is just so high.

And I hope some of these people at "The Top,"
Have trouble sleeping at night.
I hope the tortured screams of thousands of their civilians
Creep up from the bottom
Through their bedroom windows at night
And seep into their heads.

I hope to god,
This twisted breeze
That reeks of sickness
And tells of pain and suffering
Keeps them up at night.

Well said. It's alarming to think that the elite 1% of the population controls over 95% of the nation's wealth while the majority of the country dwells below the poverty level. That's just sad.

*claps and bows* This brought a tear to my eye. As someone that spent a large part of their life on the street, you really speak as someone who has experienced this first hand, if not then you really did just how open your heart is. Thank you.
