My song
My being- expressed in notes
Piercing the air and my mind
Bringing a bittersweet memory
Of time spent
Not so alone
My song sings to me
It denies loneliness passage
For if this artist can feel
The way this artist feels
I cannot be truly alone
It is said something cannot come from nothing
Why then can one's emotion be flawlessly duplicated
Time and time again
Giving away ones fears and hopes
To all in earshot
My song
My song asks nothing
My song reaches deep into my heart
Finds what needs to be felt
And brings it screaming to the surface
Like a guitar screeching into the wind
Never expecting an audience
Or even a listener
My song is only known to a few
My song sets me apart
Nobody appreciates it
Just like me
My song is a guide
Leading me to others
Who will be just as inconsolable
When my song ends
My song lead me to her
Lead me to see sweet beauty
As it sang sweet tragedy
And forced a stinging tear
From of bloodshot eyes
This is my song
Shared by few
Understood by one
This is my song
Breaking into a tightly locked heart
And stealing to my hearts content
Perhaps you can hear it too
When a child cries out in the night
When cold nips at the frozen lips of a forgotten soul
When I look into your eyes
And see myself
That
That is my song
