Melting with the ice
On this thin slice of life
We take refuge in our rage
To cringe and spit upon the seepage
That flow of leftover people
Let's give thanks with greed and guns
And blow apart our feet
When we discover how to run
We're so righteous
That we forsake the Earth that bore us
Such a primal flaw
Forgetting that we're animals at all
So high and mighty in a grave
If the irony doesn't kill you
Maybe you've been saved
(And ignorance is God)
But when the seepage runs in rivers
And we're a species on our knees
When the human race
Is suffocating in its waste
We'll know we're animals again

Not sure if it's the true intent of the lines, but "Maybe you've been saved (and ignorance is God)" was a WOW moment for me. I can hear the first line, with what I put in parentheses as one of those sarcastic under-breath mumbles. Beautiful!
