Shall i say goodbye
to an unknown life
and in my grief
held in disbelief
what i hold onto,
say goodbye to you?

a child unborn,
 a life unknown
never see you smile,
 never watch you grow
never cradle you to sleep,
 softly hum you songs
feel pride at your first steps,
or right you when you're wrong

I'm sorry precious darling, i failed you from the start
regret and sorrow kill me now, constricting on my heart

In the depths of this weary heart
a sickness has been churning
life has lost its tender glow
in lessons not worth learning

for every blow that i have took
this tears me up the most

And now i lay thee down to sleep
...sleep now my precious ghost.

"What earthly titles we bestow
don't last beyond this life,
so what shall they call you
in heaven."

(The name we never got to call you,

Woah..This rewrite is perfect. The original was brilliant but this manages to hold focus in the face of terrible adversity and awful tragedy. And that ending..
