Hushed sleep spars tangled thoughts
crept slow from the depths of a corrosive mind
slit smiles cough blood into my dazed visions
clarity, consistency, and permanency
not surprisingly
the sting has edged into my half crooked spine
and left me bent with age
cynical, illogical, tired

glazed eyes wander unknown sights
and cracked lips daren't smile
for the taste of blood invites
mortality to creep inside
sleep inside
and wander my days no more

and without fear before me
nevermore my lifeline, distress
only deepening the imprisonment of my pulse
gripped to tightly white knuckled
terrorized dreams persist
and make waves amongst a calm
and steady shore

break not upon my banks
oh desolate sleep
i crave no more your offerings
and one moments rest might be
the last and only sight id see

stall the tempest winds
and let me draw the curtains back
so unto the fresh view of a dawning day
i might also draw my final breath
