*eyelids shut softly to blacken out the meaning
behind the words purposely left unspoken
a breath escapes in hidden semblance of a sigh
pages are mentally shredded with a promise to create no more
and i walk out of the room with purposeful intent
closing the door behind me
broken pencil points and cold coffee
create a chaotic graphite decoupage upon the floor
laughter a mockery of the madness that keeps me sane
like quasimoto
i run to the bell tower
sanctuary! sanctuary!
sanctuary from the outside world
... sanctuary from myself
leering crowd outside the window
a stone's throw
impenetrable wall turns to glass
and shatters like a million stars
falling into the arms of oblivion
walking the spiral quintessence
footsteps soon fade in the distance
and pages grow brittle with time.
