I can't stay.
Trapped by thoughts too haunting.
Choking on promises. Hopes. Dreams.
(of a later time)
Seeing love {imagination} though broken mirrors.
Stale lungs lay motionless.
Clinging to that last kiss.
A goodbye so {bitter}sweet.
Once I was lost and found in your eyes.
Now you return to me...lost
with no map to my eyes.

The scissors mock me from my night stand,
"I can make you look new again.
Give you a new identity."
I hate when inanimate objects taunt me.
I fear my lack of sleep has made me easy prey
from all the things that go, "bump in the night."

The sun came out to play today.
He wanted to share my thoughts.
I've never been good at sharing.
So, I hid beneath my covers
'til he went to sleep.

The moon never looked so tempting.
She has a song all her own.
I made a sad attempt at her melody
but the stars began to dull.
For the rest of the night I sat
with my ear pressed against my window.
