one by one
they stumbled
and fell by the wayside

cursed

never to know
the meaning of the life
they so callously abandoned
in the name of pariah’s perdition

their voyeuristic needs
paid for by the consumption
of all that was worthy of redemption

father to son
mother to daughter
sinner to saint and back

their exhaustive efforts
to thwart the diabolical effects
of a life left wanting, nay, needing the
discovery of that monumental salvation
that lies within the grasp of anyone who is
willing to just ask for it because it has been
promised to those who will stand and denounce

he, who is the vilest of all

let the thunder from heaven
be the music played on the day when
all transgressions are marked and noted

and let those who are found worthy
be lifted above the calamity
that is surly coming
for us all

for if you are right
and there is no heaven
I will have not hurt anyone
by living the life I have lived
and I will then fade into obscurity

but, on the other hand
if I am right and heaven does exist
how foolish will you feel when the God
you deny asks you to account for the life you lived

eternity is forever…

This was a fantastic read. It's structure, its words. I read this as a fiery pentacostal sermon. There is no question stated, only a simple fact. The way this is written makes me believe that you believe in what you wrote, and in turn, I believe and take heed as well. This was absolutely great.

Pascal's wager...that assumed the "right" god(s) would be the one (or more) worshipped, and assumes that a god rewards belief. Very well presented. I often wonder if there were a god and he tried to hold you accountable, wouldn't you in turn hold this god accountable in the very same manner? Very thought provoking.
