This was a request from a dear friend. And I took the liberty of adding on the second part.
I dreamed of you the other day
Of how I desired us to be
Lying in pure contentment
Resting together casually
Our past was long forgotten
Along with the lovers of old
We started anew with each other
No longer were our hearts cold
Troubles didn’t dare knock
And fears were no where to be found
Just listening to each others heartbeat
Falling asleep to the soothing sound
I awoke from that pleasant slumber
To find out that it was but a dream
So I lie, thinking of you
Awake but barely able to breath…
I wrote a poem for you today
The one I saw in my dreams
I wrote it just the way you like
Words flowing gracefully
The words rose up from my heart
And flowed into my pen
They did their special dance across the page
Like they never would again
I painted a picture so vivid
Oh what I would like us to be
Each letter filled with perfection
I wrote as if still in the dream
But soon my pen ran out of ink
And the poem was not yet complete
I wondered if these tears I shed
Would add the finishing touches I seek
The paper turned dry and brittle
From all the tears that fell
So I thought to finish it in blood
The wounds would never tell
But I couldn’t bring myself to finish
This poem that I held so dear
The ending seemed too bland
The truth seemed so unreal
So I kept the poem unfinished
And cherished each little part
For it meant that at least a piece of you
Would always be close to my heart
