As you said
that
we needed to move....ahead...
I exactly knew
that one of us
would stay
/behind/
Someone
would remember
more than the other
the words
that were never said.
The nights
of best of kisses...
Dancing
while being drunk.
I knew that
one of us
would lose composture
As the music got
loud...
LOUDER
Anything else
would have confused me
Any step further
would have taken me
/elsewhere/
I will never
forget the look
on your face
Your eyes not wanting to crash
into mine
your breath so heavily
your mouth so shut
and your hands...
your hands in your pockets
Telling on you...
telling there was nothing
else for you to do.
And sometimes....always....
somebody stays behind...
walking more slowly
watching the view
breathing the air
losing a shoe...
Wishing for it
to happen again
or pleading
it never did.
I sit in
to rest...
I've watched you move
I've tried to follow
And I've seen the progress in you
from a distance
and a centimeter
behind.
Don't you know
there's always something
more to find
for the one who
stays behind
for the one who
won't go blind
for the one who grows in age
without any sign of change.
And for myself
is the same date
you wouldn't glance at me
as I stared at your face
and memorized your grace...
It's the same date
I took away my view
and you glanced in too late.
