Do you remember that woman?

You know, the one in the news
The one that lost her kids, nearly lost her life
Cause her husband beat her black and blue...

Where was love when she was crying
When her children watched her dying
When her bones were quickly breaking
And her heart was more than aching

Do you remember that child?

You know, the one on the street
That little girl whose innocence was stolen
To a pimp that paid her bills and helped her eat....

Where was love when she layed down
Lost her cherry on the filthy ground
When she was gang banged in some car
By the punks that gave her those scars

Do you remember that parent?

You know, the dad they sent to jail
The one that fouled the very word parent
Every time he laughed when his kids wailed

Where was love when he blackened their eyes
Then played upon their loyalty with "I apologize"
When he asked his neice to play with his "doll"
And when refused threw her into the wall

Do you remember me?

That awkward shy girl from class
The one you threw chocolate milk and sloppy joe at
Everyday you found time to call me fat ass

Where was love when I was screaming
Running from you, my nose bleeding
When you spit at me in the hall
Or locked me in the bathroom stall

Do you remember love?

You know, that empty four letter word
The one that falls day to day from lying lips
Falling upon deafened ears that never heard

Can you say you love at all
Would it hear you if you called
Have you ever truly felt
All the I love you's you've dealt

You can't remember can you?

It's ok, your not alone
Look around you, all the people that surround you
They are here to welcome you home

In the name of love they do
All the things love tells them to
They all swear their words are true
Now they're all saying they love you
