Ashes from her cigarette, scatter in the wind
Her hair, black as midnight, black as sin
Her heart burns in the blazing sun
But her mind is dark, absent from
Lips so red, like kisses that bleed
Internal warnings, no man can heed
Eyelashes flutter, as time passes by
Windows of fate, her breath is a sigh
Slowly raises her chin to the day
Whispers words, keeps silence at bay
Make not light, of secrets kept inside
Bat your eyes, stand, do not hide
She shows her scars, wears them proud
Like life, is parading, screaming loud
Her cigarette burns out, she crushes it down
A smirk appears slowly, buries the frown
She turns to retreat, into the looming night
The world is wrong, and the earth is right.

Oh, I do like this. I get all this pain wihthin, hidden...nobody knowing or caring...and she's able to find an odd shallow humor...or at least a patronizing smile. Nicely done.
