What happens when a dark poet dies?

~ Liz ~

What happens when a dark poet dies?

Do we complain because their posts are old,
Or sit and wait for their return?

Do we rejoice that they have left our fold,
Or scoff and shrug with unconcern?

Do we blink at loss, or cry, or groan?
Do we DP mail, or call?

Do we laugh and say, “I knew they’d go”?
Do we notice death, at all?

they say imitation is the highest compliment... I can hear his voice behind these words, impeccable structure... unsurpassed mimicry. this is better than little cats and rivals dreams deferred..."We passed their graves: / The dead men there, / Winners or losers, / Did not care. / In the dark / They could not see / Who had gained / The victory." --"Peace" The WWII decade.

I like this.. it's very nicely done and it makes you really think.. I must admit I would cry if someone I loved disapeared from dp... I care for a lot of people here and that will never change.. nicely done. -JiNx(ie)

Very good point here... from a community that survives completely online... who notices a single death?

We've had a couple, at least one that I know the specifics of, that have died here. I think we quietly pay respects and gradually forget about them. Their profiles become their own epitaph.
