blue sky
orange sunset
excellent lover
reluctant to love

a jaw line that could cut
and fingernails that have

another drunk kid
-catholic
prays to no one
when i sneeze

he accelerates through yellow lights,
hates everyone he meets

he's Howard Roark
a fountainhead, but
writing a novel
of guilt

jaded and intimidated
emotionally constipated
i just wanted something
to worship

he still asks what i was thinking
in those radiation moments

sunbathing beneath
the sky’s lethal smile

*Drunk Kid Catholic is a Bright Eyes song.

The Fountainhead is a novel by Ayn Rand, the main character of which is Howard Roark. He's supposed to be the ideal man, living by unwavering principles. He also happens to be a redhead.

I dig the Howard Roark referance, I feel sorry for this broken man however the title suggests he was once a God which leaves a question in my mind as to how someone so righteous and great ends up being this big pile of pity
