 it's just another sunny day
easy to fake being okay
plaster that smile upon my face
and act with proper social grace
my past? what past? there's nothing there
i've chosen to be unaware...

the light starts to
dim
and all i see is
him

unbidden
i see
all that's happened
to me

i've dismissed and
denied
what i've shut
inside

yet i see the
attack
thus begins the

/flash/

/back/

...
light
fright
tears
fears
cry
"why?"

this is a piece about PTSD... this is how it manifests in me... makes it often quite difficult to be in social situations... the flashbacks come when and as they please.
