He collects his thoughts.
As he loads the gun,
he thinks of his bleak future,
wondering if life's worth living
and whether it's dim hopes aren't
really self-deluding dreams.
He thinks about the news.
As he raises the gun, he contemplates
whether the pain is worth going on for.
Finally, as the gun goes off,
he comes to the bitter
realization that we're all alone
in the world.
That night he sleeps with a
smile on his face,
as his mother rests open eyed
on the wet kitchen floor.
