This one requires explanation. I broke up with my "Luv" of four years towards the end of 2006, and he posted a poem on his online blog. You have to understand, the man writes poetry like lyrics to a Linkin Park song. I got a bit pissed off by his writing his emotions off to philosophy and drugs, and responded in battle-style, saved my poem, but he deleted his before I got a chance to save it. So, here is what I wrote, which stands on its own, but sounds so much better as a response.

This is what I contained inside for four years. Trust me, I'm glad it's out.

Years were vacant due to a lack of occupation
you numbed yourself down to emotional starvation
you held captive a concept that you'd never fall to pain
but you succumbed to an idea that reflected on your name
you preach to starting over, but you carry such a grudge
like an unconcluded heartbreak, or a past I cannot judge
you disguise passive submission to a beast of death and doubt
by pretending that it's nothing anyone can do about
you claim you've cried for help, but your rescuers were hated
fell to despair much like yours, left cynical and jaded
and a drink or a smoke might help to ease the sharp thrust
of the double-bladed knife you clasp while violating trust
your property is singular, yourself is all you've got
'cause you avoid interdependence, friends are all lined up and shot
you fear to put a value to the things you might possess
because losing them would put you under unnecessary stress
you blame the world around you for your downfalls and your flaws
you don't own yourself nor change behaviours therefore providing cause
your unhappiness is self-induced, I have little sympathy
for all I wanted in this world was to know that you loved me
but erase the past, I get it, though what you forget you may repeat
starting over may only prove this world is doomed to destiny.

Ah, self-induced misery. I'm glad you broke free. ::hug::
