I've gone down to the diner
In the town to the east of the city
I've sat at the booth and ordered up
A cup of green tea

I've sat there, doodling on napkins
Slowly emptying the little metal holder
I've written your name on each single napkin
In black ink, nothing special, just over and over

Paper Napkins, I'll confess
I've written your name on a handful or two
Paper Napkins, I'll confess
I sit here, drinking tea, and thinking of you.
Paper Napkins, I'll confess
They're thrown away, but your name's still there
Paper Napkins, I'll confess
I've done this everywhere
I go...

I've gone to a restaurant
In the plaza, on the other side of town
I've looked out the windows and thought of you
While the hostess sat me down

I've ordered food, but while I wait
I started doodling on the paper mat in place...
And by the time, my food arrived
Your name was sketched upon its face

Paper Napkins, I'll confess
I've written your name on a handful or two
Paper Napkins, I'll confess
I sit here, drinking tea, and thinking of you.
Paper Napkins, I'll confess
They're thrown away, but your name's still there
Paper Napkins, I'll confess
I've done this everywhere
I go...

I have found myself doing the same thing, although sometimes I draw pictures instead of a name. ¦) And I really enjoyed the way it is sung, singer's got a nice voice. *grin* @`~~LG

A few lines into it I found myself tapping my toes, swaying my index finger back and forth as if conducting a band...

Very easy to relate to. I have felt the same way, and I agree - it can be both an annoying feeling and pleasant. Tho, I think to my friends it's only annoying :). lol. Anyways, c-ya. ~ Asheai

Don't you just hate when you can't get someone out of your mind! I know I do. Great write by the way.

Yeah, except I kinda love it. It gets annoying, 'specially when I'm out and about and I keep going "was that his car!? was that him!?"... once the novelty of the obsession's gone, it's nice to see subtle reminders of the one I love tho.

Wow, I'm sure many can relate to this, because I can. You have a way of putting your emotions into words so great. Good job.

Words are the one thing I've always been able to work with... I actually recorded this one and I'm uploading it to my website...
