Summer suns that sparkle and fade across the shallow sheets
The supple, meaningless ring of drip-drop words
Withering against the heat
Late afternoons spent sinking through the floorboards
Meandering glimpses of motel nothingness
Dehydrated bodies slamming against the dusk
Lost in a dreamy, sweaty numbness
Thriving in the beautiful mirage pinned against the chain-link rust
Summer suns that sparkle and dance in rearview reflections
Shorelines of dehydrated bodies swimming against the current
Mirrored, gesturelized misconceptions
Salty fishes swimming against the sweaty torment
Palm tree facades structured to protect against infection
Dehydrated minds setting the rhythm of the sun set
Imprisoned in free-way congestion
Enticing insomnia just to see the moon set
Summer suns that break and fade along the horizon
Twisting and snaking their way around the curtains
Only to slip of shallow sheets
And disappear through the cracks in the floorboards
