Sometimes I daydream old memories
and imagine you into them.
I place you next to me - hand in hand -
right where you should have been.

You were there with me

through the worst.when I thought I couldn't go on
you brushed away my tears
kissed my forehead
told me everything would be okay.
And it was.

(We can survive anything/because we already have.)

through the best.when I thought it couldn't get any better
you stood beside me
arm around my shoulders
spoke of how proud you were.
And it was better.

(You were always there/You just didn't know it.)

Some nights I have dreams of you.
Others I have nightmares.

Once in a while, on particularly eventful days,
I pretend I'm going to call you;
Tell you all about it.

And I would, if only I had your number.

And I wonder-
Would you be disappointed in all that I've become
if you gave yourself the chance (to know me.)

Do you lay in bed at night
and think of me
as often as I think of you?

Do you even know my name?

Sometimes I imagine you with blue eyes.
Sometimes brown,
sometimes green.
Always moist with years of the unknown...

Do you ever imagine my face?
Do I have your nose
your chin
your smile?

You've given me 21 invisible birthday cards you never knew you sent.
Thousands of hugs you couldn't feel
a million tears you didn't see.

I remember them all perfectly.
Almost as if they actually happened.

And without ever having laid eyes on you,
I miss you.
I need you.
I love you.

And I wonder if things will ever change..

That was beyond beautiful... I love the way you "still" love them, even though you don't know them. Gorgeous! Teary eyed here. Julia~

Painfully, heart shattering write. I'm not even sure what to say. You explained that feeling of never knowing someone but longing for that love so well. Wonderfully written.

My heart splintered as I read this. A little more, with each line. Tragic, and lovely at the same time. ^V^

for your...father? I can sort of relate, in a sense of I think about the deceased Father I never knew, who was cold and callous and I wonder if I have traces of him. Very sad poem, but I understand the yearning behind it...
