I despise green
and told you this as you
painted away
my skin.
The more I begged
pleaded
you silently to stop
the more you painted.
I thought it was over
when your can was empty,
but you had another
all along.
I've been here before.
I hated it then just as I do now-
I thought I'd learned from my
mistakes-
but here I am,
green as ever.
And, just as before,
I'll deal with it
(because that's what I'm good at.
[that's all I know])
until I get the courage
to tell you the truth.
