A picture’s worth a thousand words, they say
I believe it’s true
Pictures tell us more
Often
Than what we would want to hear
You can’t argue with a picture
You can’t say “But you don’t understand…”
Your mind just plays off of what it sees
In the picture
....
Cold,
Hard,
Unforgiving
Truth
Like it or not
No holds barred
Even more so when it is a picture of yourself
Like a mirror
Though unmoving, uncompromising
Sometimes it is the immovable object in your brain
Refusing to take leave until you recognize it
Until you give it it’s due
You try to ignore it
But it pokes at you
You try to move on to happier thoughts
But it stands its ground
It sits in your head
As if on display
Taunting you
The only way to reach it and take it away
Is to face it head on
With courage and conviction
And refuse to let it win
